The latest debit card security feature for e-commerce activity is scheduled to go live August 8th.
When both the ecommerce merchant (internet vendor) and Silex Banking Company participate in Mastercard Identity Check, the transaction will go through a risk-based authentication. If a higher level of transaction security is needed, as the cardholder, you’ll be asked to identify yourself by receiving a One-Time Passcode (OTP) via text message. Once received, you’ll enter this code on a checkout screen with SHAZAM’s logo. Entering this OTP gives the merchant authority to charge your debit card for the transaction. If you receive an OTP and you are not making an ecommerce purchase, call the bank immediately or block your card (if you have implemented the card control feature).
If an invalid OTP is entered in the checkout screen, the transaction will not be authenticated. If three (3) consecutive invalid OTPs are entered into the checkout screen, your card will be blocked at all Identity Check participating ecommerce merchants. This will not block your card completely; you can still use your card where the OTP is not used. To unblock your card, please contact the Silex Banking Company at 573-384-5221.
To ensure this feature works successfully, you may want to verify with the bank that we have the correct cell phone number attached to your debit card.
Standard text messaging fees may apply.
